Demolition Approaches for 109-Year-Old Woodstock Home

PORTLAND, Ore. – A house built in 1907 in the Woodstock neighborhood of Southeast Portland will be torn down for a single new dwelling unit.

Located at 4127 SE Reedway St., the house totals 864 square feet in size and is built on a 5,000-square-foot lot.

In September the house sold for $295,000 to Tracey Richard. About a week after the sale a demolition application was submitted. The applicant was permit handler Kevin Partain of Urban Visions. The contractor is David Rodman of MDR Construction, registered in Lake Oswego.

On Jan. 19 the city received an application for new construction of a two-story single-family home with an attached garage. The applicant was listed as Michael Morton of Morton Building Design LLC, while the contractor is MDR Construction.

A tree to the east of the house has been felled.

No other construction applications have been received, and as the 5,000-square-foot property is zoned R5, allowing one unit per 5,000 square feet of land in new land divisions, it is likely a single replacement home will be built.

The demolition permit was issued March 11.
