1900 Hosford Home to Be Torn Down After $350,000 Sale

PORTLAND, Ore. – A house built in 1900 in the Hosford-Abernethy neighborhood of Southeast Portland will be demolished, and while permits have not been submitted detailing the property’s future, its zoning suggests there will be a single new replacement dwelling on the site.

Located at 2415 SE Brooklyn St., the house was built 116 years ago and totals 1,120 square feet on a 5,000-square foot standard lot.

On Dec. 10 the house sold for $350,000 to Karianne and Maximilian Schlosshauer. It had most recently sold before that for $200,000 in 2006.

Nineteen days after the sale was recorded the city received an application for demolition of the house. The applicant was Zac Horton of Faster Permits while the contractor was listed as Ethan Beck Homes Inc.

No new construction permit applications have yet been submitted to the city, but the property is zoned R5 (indicating a maximum of one residence per 5,000 square feet of land unless there are underlying lot lines present on the property) and there are no underlying lot lines recorded underneath the property’s current layout.

The 35-day demolition delay will likely expire Feb. 2.

Ethan Beck Homes Inc. was previously involved in a demolition on Southeast Clinton Street over the summer.
