PORTLAND, Ore. – The city has received an application for demolition of a Chinese import-export wholesale store on SE Hawthorne Blvd.

The property, profiled by the Portland Chronicle last month, sold over the summer. The current owner is listed as Hawthorne 31 Apartments LLC.

This business is registered to VWR Development, which is registered to Vic Remmers and Walter Remmers at 735 SW 158th Ave., Ste. 180 in Beaverton.

This is the headquarters of Dennis Sackhoff‘s Arbor Custom Homes, Urban Development Group, Creston Homes LLCWest Hills Development CompanyAnchor Property Management LLC, and a large number of subsidiaries of each company.

In July Remmers applied for early assistance on the Hawthorne property. The application proposes a “four story mixed use building with ground floor retail and 30 apartments.”

The lot is across the street from the Abernethy Apartments, a completed project by Dennis Sackhoff‘s Urban Development Group.

The permit for demolition appears contradictory, listing an issue date of Dec. 16 but also stating that the building will be subject to the 35-day demolition delay, which is rare for non-residential properties.
