Low-Income Housing on Vacant Southwest Lot

PORTLAND, Ore. – Property near the west end of the Ross Island Bridge will be the site of a new housing development.

In September the Portland Housing Bureau issued a press release identifying the 2014 Notice Of Funding Availability recipients. Among them is a vacant lot located at 110 SW Arthur St.

In 2003 a gas station was demolished on the property was demolished. Since then the lot has been vacant.

The project will be undertaken by Central City Concern, a Portland nonprofit which works to address homelessness. Gerding Edlen will serve as a “development consultant” on the project, according to the PHB press release.

The development will include 39 residential units. Four of these will be reserved for households earning 30 percent of the median family income, and the rest will be rented to households earning 60 percent of the median family income. Eight of the 39 units will be rented to households with a mental disability, according to the press release.

The 2014 median family income for a family of four in Portland is $69,400, according to the PHB.

The property is currently owned by Apache Park LLC, and the property records list Jim Hanna as an affiliate. The Portland Chronicle was unable to find active business records for Apache Park LLC.
