The building and the 10,060-square-foot property it sits on are owned by Hawthorne 31 Apartments LLC, which is registered to VWR Development, which in turn is registered to Vic Remmers and Walter Remmers at 735 SW 158th Ave., Ste. 180 in Beaverton.

The developer applied for demolition of the 66-year-old building on Dec. 16. While the permit states that the demolition permit would be subject to the 35-day demolition delay (for reasons unexplained) the permit issue date is also Dec. 16. Regardless, three months later the building is still standing.

A large pool of water has formed on the interior of the building, which has been partially vacated by the former tenants who owned the building for decades. Graffiti has also popped up on the exterior walls in the time the building has been vacant and awaiting demolition.
