Old Wives’ Tales Building Receives Demolition Permit

PORTLAND, Ore. – A single story building formerly home to Old Wives’ Tales restaurant has received a demolition permit and will be replaced by multifamily housing.

The building, previously covered by the Portland Chronicle in November, will be demolished and redeveloped by Dennis Sackhoff‘s Urban Development Group.

The property is owned by Urban Development Group subsidiary UDG 13th & Ankeny LLC, which purchased it in June for $1,250,000. It had last sold in 2001 for $480,000.

Urban Development Group received the demolition permit on Jan. 27. The restaurant building will be replaced by four stories of 69 units.

In May Old Wives Tales owner Holly Hart declined to name Urban Development Group as the developer in an interview with The Oregonian.

At present Urban Development Group is building multifamily housing developments on SE Ankeny, SE 39th, SE 50th, SE 20th, SE 21st  and NE 39th.
